Volvo V90 Ocean Race review: For people who like messing about offshore
Have you heard of the Volvo Ocean Race? The Ocean Race is a yacht race around the world, held every four years. The race was originally named by British Whitbread brewing company, its original sponsor, then carried the name of its former owner, Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo Cars and Swedish multinational manufacturing company, the Volvo Group from 2001. It’s a big deal! In 1973-1974, 324 crew sailed the first race, with 17 boats in total. In 2012 the race lasted a whopping 39,270 miles.
Unfortunately, the Volvo V90 does not float, but it is stylish, fast, and has many features to make it a sweet ride. Though it does not float, it has waterproof seat covers, wet and dry storage bags and cargo zones making it ready for all of your adventures on land, and near sea (or, well, rain). If you’re reading this post from a place where it rarely rains, those features make for easier cleaning as well. But here in Seattle, we have rain, and as of Winter 2019, snow!
The Volvo V90 has multiple trim options to choose from including the Premium Momentum, and the Luxury Inscription. Both unique in their own ways. Regarding the Momentum, Volvo states “sophisticated design and intuitive technology combine to make Momentum the perfect expression of premium versatility and refinement”. Regarding the Inscription, Volvo states “with its exclusive materials and design, and advanced technology, Inscription trim provides a new experience in luxury”. They’re both great options, with the momentum being a little more “fancy” if you will. If you’re looking for a luxury look and feel in your SUV, then this may be the vehicle you have been searching for.
The 2019 V90 is also ranked quite well amongst sites such as Car and Driver (4/5), Cars.com (5/5) as well as Cnet (4/5). It is known as a stylish alternative to the usual luxury SUV suspects.
